Four Tips to Help You Spend Less Time Cleaning Your House
If you are like most people, you probably have a lot more on your to-do list than you can get done. Cleaning the house isn’t always the most important thing on your list. As a matter fact, if you could spend less time cleaning, you could have more time to do other things. Here are a few tips to help keep you from getting overwhelmed with your cleaning, and make housecleaning much easier to do.
Make Home Cleaning Faster And Easier
The first tip will help you to do your dishes much faster and easier. You really want to keep your kitchen sink to look clean and sparkly. Do not stack dirty dishes in the sink, because this can just make you feel overwhelmed. Also, make sure to keep your dishwasher unloaded. This will make it much easier for you to do the dishes, and it won’t take you nearly as long, if you have a clean place to work. If you follow these guidelines, you will find that you can load the dishwasher in less than 10 minutes.
The second tip is to assign your kids daily chores. My wife is a pro at this. My kids don’t receive an allowance. They receive a commission. They get paid for doing their chores only if they do them without complaining. Even though you can rotate through chores, we have decided that keeping the same chore for a long time, makes it easier and more of a routine. Even though kids make cleaning a lot harder, they can provide some benefit if they can get into the routine of doing a chore or two on a daily basis. If your kids do their chores regularly, it means that you don’t have to do it for them. Also, I never ask my kids to clean their room, but they know that they will never get paid for their chores if their room isn’t clean. For this reason, my kids tend to clean their room at least once a week.
The third tip to help you spend less time cleaning is to simply put things away on a daily basis. This means if you are going to change your clothes, make sure to put your dirty clothes in the hamper. Do not put them on the floor, because it isn’t any easier to leave them on a floor than is to put them in the hamper, and then they are going to make your room dirty. It is much easier to keep a room clean than it is to clean it. I have noticed that usually the house takes two or three days to go from clean to moderately messy, and then only takes one day to go from moderate to very. I think that when things are cleaner, then people generally take better care to put their stuff where it goes and not leave it out all the time.
The fourth tip is to get your pets and kids to spend more time outside. If you send your kids outside for at least two hours a day to play, it can cut down on the amount of time that you have to spend cleaning by as much as 30 minutes. Not only that, being outside is very good for your pets and kids. It seems like it takes them a lot longer to make a mess outside, than it does for them to make a mess inside of your home.
